I would like to thank all of you for the love and kindness you’ve expressed for Ryan. It means a lot to me that he touched so many people’s lives in such a positive way.
IWYS was a passion and an inspiration to him. He was dedicated to making each issue the best one, excited about showcasing artists he respected and admired, as well as those he was just discovering. He had an enthusiasm for this project that never waned. I used to love when he was getting ready to put together a new issue, he would get so excited planning every little detail…. it was all important to him.

I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding in the delay of shipping on IWYS 9. I will start sending them out next week when my sister is here to help me with them… I don’t anticipate that this will be an easy task for me, but it is important to me to get them out as soon as possible… I know Ryan would be eager to get everyone’s copy to them and to hear what people thought. So I will try my best to do the same.

On Saturday, July 11th… my husband, Ryan August, and our son Declan were in a car accident on their way home from Atlanta. They were driving through a storm when Ryan’s car left the road and struck a tree. Declan, secured in his car seat, made it through with minor cuts and bruises. Ryan died on impact.

Ryan was a wonderful husband and the most devoted father I have ever seen. I cannot not begin to imagine our lives without him….

I know that he has many friends out there and I wanted to let everyone know what happened. Right now there is so much to deal with that I am struggling to keep it all moving…. but when I can I will set to honoring his commitments involving I Want Your Skull and its related blog. Right now I am focused on our son and trying to understand the unfathomable.

I Want Your Skull #9 is here!

Issue 9 features an amazing cover design by Hydro74. He is interviewed in this issue along with tattooist, Thomas Hooper, and painter/illustrator, Stephen Haynes.

Yet another issue packed full of the worlds’ greatest artisans interpreting our favorite subject- THE SKULL! Over 35 pages of great art by: David D’andrea, Jimiyo, Kaitlin Beckett, Joshua Belanger, Nadja Schueller-Ost, Jeff Lamm, David Gough, Horrorwood, Justin Ryan, Sean Causley, Matthew Amey, Shawn Hebrank, Skullface, Todd Lambright, Miguel Cervantes, Scott Move, Iain Macarthur, Logan Kornhauser, Geoff May, Joshy, Ryan August, Mark Goss, Michael Heinz-Fischer, Nick Volkert, A Killer Wombat, Joe Boccia, Nick Mcpherson, Kenneth Botsford Jr, Nick Beaulieu, Nick Machia, Johnson, Joey Potts, Franx and Self High Five.

Instead of our usual art print, we decided to try something a little bit different this time. Each issue includes a screen-printed bandana featuring a killer illustration by Brian Morris. The 22 inch square bandana features a white print on a 100% cotton, black bandana. A 4×6 inch sticker also designed by Brian Morris is included as well.

Each issue is hand-numbered out of an edition of 350 and is packed into a black envelope, sealed and sent straight to your mailbox. Don’t miss out on this bad boy!
“With the fury that is SDCC upon us soon, thoughts travel back to last year’s epic SDCC unveiling of Mike Sutfin‘s MAD BATTLE MAN figure, which at the time was still in progress and cast in polycarbonate. Then, it was only a short time ago at WonderCon, that I was sworn to secrecy. That is, since I was one of the lucky ones (there wer 5 people total!) to get a hands-on glance and drool over the first WHITE prototype! We’re talking a real PROTOTYPE here….the first vinyl pull from the newly minted MAD BATTLE MAN mold. Ah, the elixir that vinyl & steel aroma holds for the sinuses of this vinyl junkie.”

Mad Battle Man is produced by the awesome dudes at Reckless Toys with help from the other awesome dudes at Big Shot Toyworks who did the “sculpting” from Mike’s initial drawing completely on a 3D modeling program.

Look for it at SDCC this year!
The Downtown Dog Rescue (DDR) is the only program in California, and possibly the United States, specifically founded to assist homeless dog owners spay/neuter, vaccinate, license their dogs, as well as offer a variety of services including crisis care for the life of the dog. Each year Downtown Dog Rescue assists in rescuing over 300 dogs, mostly American Pit bull Terriers and other Power Breeds that often die in the shelters mostly due to unresolved behavioral issues. Each dog we rescue is socialized with other dogs, evaluated for aggression, sterilized, vaccinated and micro-chipped before the dog is adopted out.”
